When it comes to great action Quentin Tarantino is up there. His movies are a feast for the senses and he serves up samurai sword fights, gunslinging former slaves, and the entire Nazi regime being gunned down by American soldiers while a Jewish woman laughs over the revenge she orchestrated. To get back to the samurai sword fight, fans of Tarantino all know and love Kill Bill, the two-volume movie about one very pissed off woman’s quest for vengeance that will see her dishing out to her former teammates what they dished out to her before ending with what the title promises: Killing Bill.
It’s why a certain Tiktok user’s boyfriend knew the perfect gift to get for the father of his girlfriend: the Hatori Hanzo (Sonny Chiba) sword from Kill Bill, the unique weapon very few characters possess in the film, and one as fine as the one wielded by the Bride, Beatrix Kiddo, played by Uma Thurman herself. It’s the type of weapon, she is told, that will even cut God if He gets in her way. It’s why it’s a perfect gift to give to a fan of the duology, but also an ironic one considering a boyfriend better be in the business of keeping treating a guy’s daughter right if he just gave her father a carbon-steal samurai sword at Christmas.
“Dude,” the dad says, still in shock, but looking around the room for a place to put his prize, “you know where this is going?” Mom enters the conversation and starts saying No over and over, but Dad isn’t deterred: “On the wall above the TV.” Everyone laughs as they see the apparent pleasure on the face of the man who, likely moments before, received the typical dad gifts of socks and cologne and maybe a new pair of blue jeans. But now he’s got something even more to be thankful about: a way to hold off the Crazy 88 from Kill Bill if they decide to attack him and his family.
